Siamés Escalante is a Yucatan born graphic designer and artist currently living in Mexico City. Her work is inspired by Japanese culture and children books imagery. Her pieces always include themes such as innocence, melancholy and fantasy. While not drawing or painting, Siamés likes to watch Korean dramas in the company of her two sidekicks (aka her cats) Ramen and Brooklyn.
“I tried to incorporate Aztec and Mayan imagery to the design for the Treeline fence to bring up a little about my roots. I am from Yucatan Mexico, therefore my family is mostly mayan descendants. I currently live in Mexico City, and it was part of the Aztec empire, so I tried to tie both together. Mexican culture is very vast and each of the civilizations that existed (and still exist) have their own imagery and style. I think all of my country’s background is fantastic and should be recognized and appreciated around the world.”
