Austin, Texas based The Tender Things is a hippie country band in the tradition of the many great bands that crossed the stage at Austin’s Armadillo World Headquarters, an airplane hangar like venue where rednecks and hippies learned to get along to a soundtrack of Willie Nelson, Leon Russel, Freddie King, Commander Cody, Doug Sahm and so many more. Ebaugh’s songwriting is steeped in the bluegrass that he played for a decade living in northern Kentucky (with Pickathon alums the Kenton County Regulators), before working for many years as a member of the rock and roll outfit Heartless Bastards. While the Bastards are on hiatus, Ebaugh has pulled together a group of musicians who had been searching for an opportunity to play together, and began performing in Austin and the surrounding area’s famed dance halls, keeping the tempo up for long hours in the service of the Texas dance tradition. They play country music, with pedal steel guitar and acrobatic telecaster, but with a little swagger and fuzz. They are slated to release a full length album recorded and produced by Josh Block (Leon Bridges, White Denim), at Fort Worth’s Niles City Sound.
