Here we go folks….onward with Work Party #1 at Pendarvis Farm, April 18-19 (note: we had the wrong dates when we first posted – sorry!), 2009. This is the first of a few, and we hope to get a nice crew of folks out and ready to lend a helping hand. The work parties are always a good time, and an excellent way to join the community that surrounds both the farm and the festival.
Here is what you could expect:
Work days for both Saturday and Sunday will be from 10am-7pm, with an hour break in the middle for byob lunch. The majority of the work will take place in the woods, and consist of various types of brush clearing and trail clean up. Gloves, Boots, Rain Gear, Tools, and a change of clothes are all good things to bring. Those that put in a full day will be invited to stick around for BBQ grilling, jamming by anyone who wants to bring and instrument, and a showing of the 2007 Pickathon DVD (which follows the Pickathon 2007 CD)..plus a couple other surprises! Pickathon will provide the BBQ dinner on Saturday, and a breakfast spread on Sunday at 9am. We hope that lots of folks can make it out, as the first work parties out at the Farm are the most important, plus it really is a wonderful time and a great chance to get to know other farm friends.
Pendarvis Farm work parties will not count towards festival volunteering.. However, those that do come out will get priority once it comes to filling the 2009 volunteer positions for the festival. We appreciate each and every drop of sweat, and are lucky to have such a great crew that is willing to come out and help make it happen!
If you are interested in the work parties, have questions, or whatever….email Mr. Elwood at email@example.com, it is best if you can let him know when you expect to make it out, as he is the man with the plan and will be managing lots of folks and different tasks throughout the weekend. Come on out, shake off those winter blues!!
For festival volunteering.. We are super close to a new on-line form for processing applications, ideally this will be ready on April 1st, stay tuned to the website as those details should surface soon.
Tomorrow is the official first day of Spring, so lets get out and enjoy it…
