60 days and counting…
Tuesday June 2, 2009

This is the big 60 days and counting ring of the bell. 60 days from now we will all converge upon Pendarvis Farm and make this beautiful 80 acre piece of Oregon our new home. Many of us for all three days of Pickathon, some for the first time. This post goes out to you folks, things just wouldn’t be the same without you… So you have purchased your tickets and cleared the dates, now what?
Camping?
1. Tent camping comes with the purchase of a Weekend Ticket to Pickathon. This involves hiking into the forest at Pendarvis Farm and finding a suitable place to pitch a tent. There are many new sites and trails in 2009, so be sure to hike around a bit to see what is available and what could be of interest to you and yours. Sorry friends, single day tickets do not come with camping.
2. Car Camping is currently sold-out.
3. RV Parking is currently sold-out.
Hotel?
We have partnered with a couple area hotels that can offer discounted rates, and free shuttles to and from Pendarvis Farm, as well as to and from the Airport. This should encourage out-of-town folks who are flying in. You can attend Pickathon and remain car and tent free. How about it?
Schedule and Stages?
No matter where you are during the weekend, rest assured – we have you covered. More than 35 bands spread out over four outdoor stages, one galaxy barn, and one workshop barn. This is around 110 combined hours of music on six stages over a span of 72 hours, whether it be out under the sails getting countrified with Dale Watson on the Mountain View Stage, at the Woods Stage being amazed by Vetiver, under the stars for an intimate late-night performance by Paleface at the Starlight Stage, learning the ways of old-time with the Freight Hoppers in the Workshop Barn, or…rocking late with Blitzen Trapper in the Galaxy Barn. The 2009 schedule will serve as a music-buffet, so please bring your appetite.
Kids?
Bring your kids, (we do) and there is plenty of entertainment for them too. Pickathon has attracted a great group of families who call the festival their reunion. We do our best in providing an engaging, comfortable and safe environment…as well as ample fun for the adults. It’s a win-win, just remember to bring the babysitter!
Vendors and Beer?
We are excited to have Deschutes Brewery as our beer of choice in both the main and galaxy barn beer gardens in 2009. Oregon beer for Oregon festivals right? For food you will be pleased to know that we are expanding our vendor village and will be welcoming quite a few new food and beverage vendors in 2009. More ‘portland unique’ vendor options to make sure that there is no stomach left behind. Leave the coolers at home and let our vendors cater your needs for a few days.
Getting to Pickathon?
Talk to our friends over at EcoShuttle! As they will be providing rides for the masses all weekend. Stay tuned for details in regards to pick-up/drop-off locations, as well as shuttle hours. This will be our 4th year running the Portland-Pendarvis Farm bio-fueled shuttles and we have seen a beautiful thing blossom before our very eyes. We want you all to take the bus…

I know this is likely way too much information this time around, I do understand this…however, some of you may like the read and possibly have been waiting for the convincing in order to make your ticket purchasing decision. Do it! All to often we hear that Pickathon is the best weekend of the year. We work hard at putting together what we feel is a great thing, and continue to become increasingly encouraged by our crowd and its evolution from one year to the next. You people make it happen.
