“Wow, Pickathon. That was a really crazy experience for us. Playing in the middle of the woods! That is not a normal thing for any musician, but especially a Tuareg musician. We are used to the sand, the dunes, the open sky … but we are not used to the forest!” – Omara ‘Bombino’ Moctar

Well, welcome back to the forest…

Returning this Sunday (5/26) to Portland, Tuareg guitarist Bombino and his amazing band of brothers will be at the Star Theater in support of their Nonesuch Records (Dan Auerbach produced) debut release Nomad.

Earlier this week, Ryan White from The Oregonian caught up with Omara ‘Bombino’ Moctar, through a translator, to talk about the new release and coming back to Portland. Also, a bit of reminiscing about their visit to Pickathon in 2012.

Whether it was on the Woods Stage, in the Galaxy Barn, or up at the Pumphouse – Bombino was transcendent.

We can’t wait to see them again this weekend.
