Lets just face the facts, sometimes it’s just not any fun attempting to bring the kids out to your favorite 3-day music festival. Too many adults, not enough kids, and definitely not an over abundance of stuff for them to do so everyone can keep their sanity.

Well, we’re here to happily tell you that all this changes the moment you arrive at Pickathon 2013…

The Kids! At Pickathon programming is now better than ever, with many classes, workshops, freeplay, and performances happening all weekend long. Local groups such as Trackers Earth (bringing all four guilds – Rangers, Wilders, Mariners, Artisans), Circus Cascadia, Cedarwood Waldorf School, and the Mother Earth School will all provide a wide range of activities that will keep you busy from morning to night. Musical performances by Portland’s own Cat Doorman, Grammy nominated storyteller Diane Ferlette, and back by popular demand, the Saturday Morning Cartoon Show with The Cardboard Songsters on the Woods Stage! Also, it’s easy to get the kiddos involved and moving around with special morning sessions of Yoga for families in the Backyard Bowl, singing and rhythm workshops with Music Together, the Family Squaredance with Caroline Oakley in the Galaxy Barn, and then finally, take the opportunity to get onstage as part of the Kids Showcase in the Workshop Barn.

Throughout the Pickathon weekend, and spread out amongst many really cool kid-specific venues, there will be an almost unlimited opportunity to try out many of the popular activities that will be scheduled each day; Go on an edible and medicinal plant walk, or try your hand at blacksmithing. Visit the Cedarwood kindergarten camp, make finger puppets, a buckskin bracelet, or practice wet felting. Learn to juggle or stilt walk, and put on a performance for your family! All these experiences and more await you this August. A complete Kids! At Pickathon schedule will be available very soon, including info on times and locations as well as tips on how to sign up for classes in advance!

It’s no wonder that so many families choose Pickathon as their most anticipated and favorite vacation of the year… Parents get a music filled retreat, and the kids get three full days of what would seem like the best summer camp ever imagined.

And of course, as with any year at Pickathon, Kids 12 and under attend for free. So get your tickets mom and dad, and we will see you at Camp Pickathon 2013!

Pickathon… the most amazing music filled, summer camp inspired, culinary vacation one could ever desire.

Sounds like fun?
