On February 26th, 2013, Alynda Lee Segarra celebrated her golden birthday and wrote this song, Everybody Knows, in honor of the one year anniversary of Trayvon Martin’s tragic death.

It’s clear if you’ve listened to any of Segarra’s work that she is a woman who doesn’t tread lightly in the world. Segarra walks this life with intention, compassion, and laser beam focus. Her ability to transmute issues of injustice, violence, and racism into stunning songs rivals that of a champion weightlifter. This is her power and her gift, and thankfully, we all benefit from it.
