The Sunday brunch hour at Pendarvis Farm has a unique vibe to it. The majority of folks aren’t fully caffeinated yet. Maybe even more still haven’t yet eaten breakfast. Some are still lingering in tents and hammocks, trying to catch some last bits of rest before officially getting up for the day.

Sunday of Pickathon 2016 at the Woods Stage started with the illustrious Bob Boilen of All Songs Considered and Tiny Desk Concerts renown. Boilen talked about his recent book, Your Song Changed My Life, and interviewed some musical guests as well. And if some lucky few stayed at the Woods after Bob’s set, they soon got even luckier to witness Palehound.

In this episode of the Woods Series, Palehound performs their song, “Holiest,” in a video that visually matches the dynamism of Ellen Kempner’s songwriting. Kempner grew up with a songwriter father who was in a band called ‘Ear Food’ when she was growing up. She has released an EP (“Bent Nail”) and full album, “Dry Food,” via Exploding In Sound Records. Stay tuned for more Palehound goodness, too. Kempner is in the process of writing her next album so we all have something to look forward to, for any day of the week.

The Woods Series is made possible by Klean Kanteen and presented by OPBmusic.org and NPR Music. Read more about this performance from OPBmusic here and NPR Music here.
