My Pickathon Series: Mar Ricketts / GuildWorks
GuildWorks shade fabric installation | Mt. Hood Stage - Pickathon 2016 | Photo by Liam Gillies
Thursday March 30, 2017

By now, you’ve probably noticed the artistic shade fabric sculptures covering the Mt. Hood stage and Galaxy Barn areas. If not, email us here so we can connect about your powers of observation :-). This masterful architecture of the air is the brainchild of Mar Ricketts of GuildWorks and installed by the devoted, hard-working Sky Crew in the weeks leading up to the festival.

To date, their crafts(wo)manship at Pickathon is still one of the largest temporary festival tension structures in the world. How’s that for qualifiers? Here are some more interesting facts: In 2015, the shade structure consisted of 200,000 square feet of fabric and 12 miles of rope.

Each year brings an ever-evolving incarnation that is inspiring for its sheer magnitude. It also provides a certain grace and comfort, much like home for the holidays, which it is in all the best ways possible.

We can only imagine what 2017 will be like. Join us August 3-6 to see for yourself. Weekend and single day tickets are still available here. And in case you missed it, we’ve got the full 2017 lineup now. Complete. Finí. Amazing!
