Kids + Families at Pickathon
Kids these days, Pickathon. By Autumn Andel
Tuesday July 25, 2017

Pickathon is the PERFECT music festival for families… It’s been that way since the early years and the tradition of families making the trip to Pendarvis Farm every August continues in just ten days. We simply cannot wait.

To help with the planning:

Kids under 12 are FREE at Pickathon when coming with the family, and  teens 13-17 can get a 50% discounted rate with our special Teen Ticket.

Windmill Hill – Classes, crafts, chill zones, kinder-camp and day care – arranged while you setup or teardown camp – are a few of the highlights that will be offered as part of our daily activities on Windmill Hill. Join hosts Cedarwood Waldorf School, Signal Fire Art Crew, Mother Earth School, and City Repair at this lovely top-of-the-hill location for three full days of enriching experiences.

Wild Horse Meadow – Kids can immerse themselves throughout the day with the amazing staff of Trackers Earth. Teaching wilderness awareness & survival, animal tracking, plant identification, fiber arts, and of course the incredibly popular foam bow & arrow training. This is the spot for any aspiring adventurer at Pickathon.

The Big Top – Yet another year of intensive circus training for our little ones with Circus Cascadia! Three full days of Interactive Family Circus Workshops, Clowns, Circus Cascadia Shows, and the massive Pickathon Kids Circus Show – don’t miss out!

Wild Horse Stage – In its second year, the Wild Horse tent and stage will offer even more music performances and workshops design specifically for the kiddos! The Wild Horse crew will provide interactive music experiences for the whole family from 9am-7pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Performers will include Portland “kindie” favorites Mo Phillips, Red Yarn, and Aaron Nigel Smith with One World Chorus, as well as pirate rockers PDXYAR and family folk newcomers I See the Moon. Caroline Oakley will return with her beloved Family Square Dance on Saturday morning. Music Together, My Voice Music, and other teaching artists will offer workshops and instrument lessons tailored to different age groups. FutureBus will bring their mobile maker studio and lead a small group of youth in building cigar-box guitars. The weekend will culminate with a massive talent show, so kids will be able to say “I performed on stage at Pickathon!”

Pickathon is equal parts Summer Camp, Music Festival, and Family Reunion.
