This Is How You Make A Family-Friendly Festival
Big Air by Bill Purcell
Tuesday March 20, 2018

No, it’s not by tossing the tiny humans into the air like that amazing scene with David Bowie in Labyrinth. And it’s not by making the kids go, either. Okay, maybe it is at first, but you won’t have to drag them a second time. Like everything else your child really enjoys in life, it won’t be long before you never hear the end of it. Soon enough they’re begging you to teach them how to paint faces or asking if they can take your guitar to the festival so they can busk all day along the Quail Trail…Or maybe they’re too young yet and they just want to sprinkle fairy dust in your hair. Or snuggle in a hammock at the Woods Stage while you bathe in music, shade, and that sweet, heart-aching love.

It doesn’t matter how. They will find a way to get you to take them to Pickathon year after year because they’re super sneaky like that. And who do you think you’re fooling anyway? We all know who has the power to invite the sweetest, most hilarious moments in life. It’s the kids, of course. Join us this Summer as we celebrate 20 years!

Pickathon is equal parts Summer Camp, Music Festival, and Family Reunion.

To help with the planning:

Tickets

Kids under 12 are FREE at Pickathon when coming with the family, and teens 13-17 can get a 50% discounted rate with our special Teen Ticket.

Camping Zones

The Family Camping Zone is encouraged for sole use by people with kids under 12.

The Quiet Camping Zone has been designated for those needing silence between the hours of 11:00pm to 9:00am. Please note that we do our best to monitor this area and try and keep it quiet – it is a music festival and sometimes late night noise is out of our control.

Jam Zones (Glade Jam and Stump Jam) have been designated for those that want to jam into the wee hours.

Stages & Venues

Windmill Hill – Classes, crafts, chill zones, kinder-camp and day care – arranged while you setup or teardown camp – are a few of the highlights that will be offered as part of our daily activities on Windmill Hill.

Wild Horse Meadow – Kids can immerse themselves throughout the day with the amazing staff of Trackers Earth. Teaching wilderness awareness & survival, animal tracking, plant identification, fiber arts, and of course the incredibly popular foam bow & arrow training. This is the spot for any aspiring adventurer at Pickathon.

The Big Top – Yet another year of intensive circus training for our little ones with Circus Cascadia! Three full days of Interactive Family Circus Workshops, Clowns, Circus Cascadia Shows, and the massive Pickathon Kids Circus Show – don’t miss out!

Wild Horse Stage – In its third year, the Wild Horse tent and stage will offer even more music performances and workshops design specifically for the kiddos! The Wild Horse crew will provide interactive music experiences for the whole family from 9am-7pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

More details about music and activities for kids, (+ chickens, and superheroes) coming soon! If you’re lucky, you might even get to say that Haley Heynderickx taught your kid how to play ukulele…

See you in August!
