Over the past two decades, Fruit Bats, the psychedelic folk outfit fronted by songwriter and film composer Eric D. Johnson, has become a mainstay of the indie Americana scene. After three solid years of touring and enjoying the critical success of 2016’s Absolute Loser, Fruit Bats announced new album Gold Past Life and signing with Merge Records. The new album is like a touchy radio dial of a conversion van, sifting through the shimmering grooves of 1970’s California country, the warped punch of Supertramp, and top-down Central Coast indie rock. It’s that good old Fruit Bats sound that we’ve grown to love and expect… Pickathon LOVES Eric D. Johnson & pretty much anything he does… whether it be with the band, solo, duo, or simply providing the golden tough to another artists release as producer. Like all other Fruit Bats releases that have been mainstays in the record collection, we’re behind this one 100%.
Eric will be performing at Pickathon every damn day of the festival, two days as Fruit Bats and two days with Bonny Light Horseman. For the fans we know that are out there, this is a special weekend… Check the schedule + get your tickets! Join for a day, three-day weekend, or the full four-day weekend. You won’t regret it (however, you might regret not getting tickets soon… it’s a limited capacity party and we’re certain to sell-out this year.) See you in August!
