French-Cuban twin sisters Lisa-Kainde and Naomi Diaz have been drawing in headlines from NPR, The FADER, and The Washington Post.

“Ibeyi” translates to “twins” in Yoruban, which is fitting since the duo started out their career playing the music of their father’s Yoruban culture.

In their debut, self-titled album, the duo’s soft voices contrast expertly with beats from the cajón and batá. Lyrically, there are references to the Afro-Caribbbean religion Santería and lines about memories of their family members.
