🍒 Meet the New Cherry Hill Neighborhood

Pendarvis Farm is full of makers, builders, organizers, volunteers, and all-around all-stars this week as we bring the ambitious and forward-thinking vision for this year’s festival into reality!

Among the busy bees on the grounds are students and faculty from Portland State University’s Architecture program, who are hard at work building the brand new stage in our Cherry Hill Neighborhood. This new Neighborhood is on the same hill as our old Treeline Stage, but it’s an entirely new view! The Cherry Hill Stage looks up from the bottom of the hill, using the natural amphitheater of this beautiful field to draw in some of our largest audiences at the festival. It’ll come alive at night under the stars for evening programming, and will feature a new bar and DJ area on the hill as well, so expect plenty of dancing and some wild nights!

Though the Cherry Hill Neighborhood is taking over from the former Treeline Stage, it’s still as sustainable as ever! Continuing with the “diversion design-build” concept developed by PSU faculty members Travis Bell and Clive Knights, the Cherry Hill Neighborhood will be put together with materials diverted from their typical use and temporarily repurposed to become a breathtaking performance space at Pickathon 2022. After the festival, the materials are sent back to the supplier and returned to their original use, leaving no waste. This year’s towering structure is constructed of massive wooden cable reels with bamboo accents.
