To help assure we start the month of March off on the right foot.. here is a “Pickathon x 2” collaboration between Andrew Bird and Tift Merritt. ‘If I Needed You’, originally by the late Townes Van Zandt, played for an eerily quiet and basically empty Late Show with David Letterman (Hurricane Sandy edition).

Bird has also put this song on his most recent 2012 release, Hands Of Glory. This album is a ‘musical companion’ to Break It Yourself (the other 2012 Andrew Bird release), which comes strongly suggested and positively reviewed.
