Depending on the day of the week, Improvement Movement might be described as a loose amalgamation of Atlanta songsmiths, a hostile corporate takeover of your dad’s favorite band, or a generous waste of time. This Atlanta-based psychedelic-folk quartet, formed in 2016, is known for their experimental writing and recording, resulting in a catalog described as neurotic and playful. Their debut LP, Don’t Delay, Join Today, was released in 2022, followed by their sophomore album, Slump, in May 2024, which Garrett Sale produced. Slump has been praised within the Atlanta indie scene, drawing comparisons to artists like Fleet Foxes, CSNY, The Beatles, and Steely Dan. The band has garnered attention for their lush harmonies and gorgeous songcraft, leading to opportunities such as opening for Khruangbin and Royal Otis at the Eastern in Atlanta. Their live performances are known for their captivating energy and mind-expanding visuals, solidifying their place as a promising act within the indie music landscape.
