The Red Yarn Band

The Red Yarn Band returns to the Coyote Stage at Pickathon 2025 for wild and joyful folk music revival 10 years in the making! These beloved Portland family artists are celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their seminal album, ‘Deep Woods Revival,’ as well as their first performance at Pickathon in 2015. To mark the occasion, they’ll perform a special Sunday morning set on the Coyote Stage with their revved-up versions of classic folksongs, their lovable critter puppets, and their infectious community spirit. They’ll have you all singing “Praise the forest!”

Red Yarn (aka Andy Furgeson) is a Texas-born, Oregon-based family performer who weaves roots music and puppetry into engaging shows for all ages. Performing alongside his wife & singing partner Ms. Jessie, their full band, and a suitcase full of “critter” puppets, Red Yarn’s shows are a raucous celebration of the USA’s multicultural musical heritage. Red Yarn & his family band have performed at Austin City Limits Festival, South by Southwest, Pilgrimage, Stagecoach, Wolf Trap, Symphony Space, and family venues across the country. He has been declared “Portland’s Best Kindie Performer” for eight years straight in the PDX Parent Reader Favorites poll!
