Since helping found the Grateful Dead, virtuosic bass player and psychedelic music trailblazer Phil Lesh has led generations of musicians and music fans in one of a kind concert experiences. Pickathon is proud to present Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band, who will be performing two different shows at the festival this summer. Playing a special headline Mt. Hood Stage set early on Thursday (for the early-Thursday crowd), and what promises to be a legendary headline set at the Woods Stage on Friday. Tickets available now…
Lesh broke the rules of rock n’ roll bass, and, rather than playing in pocket, became a melodic sideman to Jerry Garcia, drawing the appreciation of jazz aficionados and rock fans alike. After a lifetime of rock n’ roll and he’s still giving back to cross generational crowds and new musicians. The Terrapin Family Band is literally a gathering of family (his son Grahame plays guitar, and family friend Alex Koford plays drums and sings) come together to re-envision Dead songs. Sessions at Lesh’s Marin County venue proved so inspirational that original new material began to well up. Phil Lesh’s musical discovery continues… Folk rock legend, cancer survivor, and constant musical mentor to younger generations, Phil Lesh brings his family band to our family outing. We’re genuinely honored to host him and look to make this a very special experience.
Oh, and Happy Birthday Phil! Today is your day!
