Performing songs from his new (fourteenth) album, In the Shape of a Storm. At Pickathon on Saturday August 3rd & Sunday August 4th.
Seminal Seattle native and indie songwriter Damien Jurado returns to Pickathon after releasing his fourteenth studio album, In The Shape Of A Storm. His first release after moving to Los Angeles and signing with Mama Bird Records, In The Shape Of A Storm is his sparest release to date. Built around a collection of unreleased songs written throughout the span of his career, the album reads like a stack of newspapers from the past, hidden inside a bathroom wall and discovered upon renovation. It’s also his first work since the death of his longtime producer and friend Richard Swift. As such, the sense of intimacy and longing on the record is palpable, finding Jurado in both reflection and renovation, and the honest breaking open that comes with each.
