Tuesday February 25, 2020

Pickathon 2020 will be a whole new experience! To get you geared up for that, we’re announcing artists and big surprises each week with our Pickathon newsletter. Each newsletter highlights a special path that will take you through the festival, with artists in this year’s lineup (in no particular order) being announce here in the newsletter FIRST. Head on over and subscribe if you also want to be the first to hear who is playing this year. At this year, we want you to find your own way and #pickyourpath, so here’s the first of the 2020 Pickathon paths:

John Prine

Pickathon is proud to welcome a legend of American music: John Prine! One of the world’s most acclaimed artists and songwriters, John Prine is 50 years into a remarkable career that has drawn effusive praise from Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, Bonnie Raitt, Roger Waters, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Sturgill Simpson, and Emmylou Harris. Prine’s ability to speak to the everyday experience of ordinary people with a simple honesty has become his trademark. He is a multiple GRAMMY Award-winner, a 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, a Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member and his songs have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Carly Simon, Bette Midler, Bonnie Raitt, Norah Jones, George Strait, Miranda Lambert, Zac Brown Band and many others. His critically acclaimed latest album, The Tree of Forgiveness, was nominated for three GRAMMY awards.

Chad VanGaalen

A notorious homebody, Chad VanGaalen is well known for rarely leaving his rickety house in Calgary, endlessly drawing, recording and making art. A creative polymath, Vangaalen’s an accomplished visual artist, animator, director, and producer. He’s scored television shows, designed puppet characters for Adult Swim, directed videos for Shabazz Palaces, Strand of Oaks, METZ, Dan Deacon, and The Head and the Heart, and produced records for Women, Alvvays, and others. His latest album, Light Information, is his sixth album on Sub Pop Records.

Grove Stage

We’ve been talking about how Pickathon will look completely different in 2020, and one of the big surprises is the new Grove Stage. Tucked into a tall evergreen stand on Pendarvis Farm, the Grove Stage is an entirely new location set to the rhythms of the day. In a radical departure from other music festivals, as daytime and nighttime roll across the grounds at Pickathon each of these periods will awaken different stages and moods. The shade from the trees at the Grove Stage will shelter us from the sun, drawing the audience in closer to the performances.

RV Camping
