With weekly lessons and live bands, you can learn to Square Dance and Two-Step on a beginner-friendly and inclusive dance floor, then practice your new skills all night long to Portland’s finest String and Honky Tonk bands.

Pickathon Weekend: Showdown Lineup
For fans of Pickathon who can’t get enough, yee haw! The Showdown Saloon is an extension of the best facets of the festival that you can experience all year long. Dress up, dress down, come as you are to immerse yourself in a wide range of touring, national, and local emerging country musicians in an intimate setting. From August 1-4, we will be featuring Pickathon 2024 performers and past Pickathon alumni to celebrate the best weekend of the year!
THURS, 8/1: Kelsey Waldon with Mac Cornish and The Hens
Kelsey Waldon, a Pickathon alumni, will be performing at The Showdown Night 1 of Pickathon and we couldn’t think of a better artist to kick off a wild weekend of Pickathon with! Kelsey Waldon, a country and bluegrass artist from Kentucky, has released four acclaimed albums. Her latest project, “There’s Always a Song,” showcases her gratitude for the music that shaped her, featuring collaborations with artists like Amanda Shires and Margo Price. Mac Cornish, inspired by the Laurel Canyon music scene and her upbringing in the Santa Cruz mountains, now performs in Portland with a sound influenced by legends like Joan Baez and Jackson Browne, captivating audiences with her heartfelt performances.

FRI, 8/2: John Haywood with Caleb and The Monsters
John Haywood is performing at Pickathon twice during the weekend. Once John wraps up shows at Pickathon on Thursday and Friday, he’ll be racing to the Showdown for a late show! Don’t miss him, catch him if you can!
John Haywood, known for his banjo work on Tyler Childers’ Grammy-nominated album and live performances at Radio City and Red Rocks, also contributes vocals and art inspired by coalfield culture. An apprentice to George Gibson and member of Lee Sexton’s band, he founded Parlor Room Art and Tattoo in 2011. In Letcher County Kentucky, John Haywood, is a tattooer, painter, and musician. His art and tattoo work draws from the experiences, culture, and music of the hollers and coalfields, and has been collected by diverse individuals from across the globe, earning him numerous awards and honors.

SAT, 8/3: Ellis Bullard with Jake and The Hill People
Ellis Bullard is performing at Pickathon Friday and Sunday with a show at the Showdown sandwiched between! Ellis Bullard brings a genuine Honky Tonk spirit to his music, embodying a state of mind as much as a sound. His songs are the raw product of hard living and relentless dedication. Bullard’s Honky Tonk grooves are accompanied by Jake & The Hill People, who offer a modern take on Classic Country Western music. Featuring Jake Nacrelli and Simon Sharipoff’s harmonies, Simon’s lead guitar, and the Honky Tonk rhythm from Tyson Oliver and Solomon Quijano, this Oregon band aims to revive the classic sound in the Willamette Valley.
From Austin, Texas, Ellis Bullard embodies a True-Blue Honky Tonk experience, shaped by years of hard living and touring. Bullard and his band have shared the stage with top names in Texas Country and Americana like Randy Rogers, Reckless Kelly, and Cody Johnson. Their debut record, “Piss-Hot Freightlining Country Music,” impressed Joe Rogan, who praised Bullard’s fiery performance at the legendary White Horse.

SUN, 8/4: Melissa Carper with Fog Holler
Melissa Carper will bring it on home Sunday night at the Showdown Saloon. Find Melissa playing Friday and Saturday at Pickathon and then closing out a stellar Pickathon weekend at the Showdown. Melissa Carper brings a unique blend of genres to her music. Her new album, “Borned In Ya,” combines country, jazz, R&B, and soul elements, showcasing her growth as an artist. With deep, heartfelt lyrics and a refined sound, Carper’s work reflects her extensive experience and dedication to her craft. Carper is joined by Fog Holler, a bluegrass band blending traditional style with modern flair, captivating fans with skillful musicianship, topical songwriting, and coordinated outfits.
