More Than a Festival: Our Vision for Pendarvis Farm and Our Community
Tuesday July 1, 2025

As we gear up for Pickathon’s 25th anniversary this summer (July 31 – Aug 3, 2025), we’re feeling reflective and incredibly excited about the future. For us, Pickathon has always been more than just a weekend of music; it’s a community and a long-term project in partnership with our home, Pendarvis Farm. We’ve always aimed for open communication, and we want to share an update on our evolving vision with our wider community.

Our story is inseparable from the Pendarvis family, who have stewarded this beautiful land for over 80 years. Their commitment to community is the foundation we’ve built upon. Now, as we look to the next 25 years, our vision is expanding in two significant ways.

The first is Creative Neighborhoods, our independent non-profit. This isn’t an engine to simply build a project, but how we plan to cement our ability to maximize our impact. Creative Neighborhoods is our commitment to year-round action through world-class collaborative placemaking art, hands-on mentorship of the next generation, and creating cyclical solutions to meet community needs.

This work fuels our long-term dream for the farm itself: the Pickathon Cultural and Conservation District. This is our vision for the next 25 years. We imagine Pendarvis Farm not only being preserved as a vital green space, but becoming a cornerstone that links to a future Happy Valley downtown center—creating Oregon’s next great destination. It’s through the ongoing, hands-on work of Creative Neighborhoods that we will collectively imagine and build this future.

Being a good neighbor is a value we hold dear. As a continuation of our long-standing tradition, we are pleased to offer a limited number of complimentary day tickets to our immediate neighbors. If you can verify you live within a half-mile of Pendarvis Farm, please feel free to write to us at neighbors@pickathon.com to inquire. We have a limited number of these tickets available, but we will do our best to support our closest community members. Of course, for neighbors who are able to, purchasing tickets is one of the most direct ways to help sustain our long-term vision. We are truly grateful for your support in any form.

The road to our 25th anniversary is about celebrating a quarter-century of music by investing in the next quarter-century of community, conservation, and creativity. We can’t wait to build this future with you.
