Lo Steele is a Portland-based singer, songwriter, and award-winning actor. Daughter of blues icon LaRhonda Steele, Lo blends soul, gospel, and blues with modern R&B. Her 2023 album “Happy Girl” was praised by Portland Mercury. She has shared stages with Dianne Reeves and Tank and the Bangas. As an actor, Lo has performed in productions like “Hair” and “Passing Strange.” Her 2024 Tiny Desk submission, “Another Life,” was featured by NPR Music. Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, often called the “James Brown of Ghana,” is back with his latest album, “Hi-Life Jazz.” Known for his deep, soulful highlife sound, Ambolley’s 35th release brings new life to jazz classics from legends like John Coltrane and Miles Davis, infused with his signature highlife style and polyrhythms. This album, his third on the German Agogo label, coincides with a European tour, featuring stops in Paris, Amsterdam, Lisbon, and more. Ambolley’s illustrious career spans collaborations with Ghanaian greats and performances at major festivals like Montreux Jazz Festival.
