This week marks the return of Howe Gelb to the West Coast. Spending time with us in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Salem, Cottage Grove, Portland, and Seattle. Singing new songs from The Coincidentalist, which is Howe’s debut release with the esteemed New West Records (who are definitely having a great end of year for releases). This incredible record features contributions from Will Oldham, M. Ward, Steve Shelley, and KT Tunstall. Yet another significant achievement within the vast and incredibly deep catalog for Howe Gelb & Co. From the past 30 years of constant productivity, Howe has found a place in American music history that is occupied by very few, and because of this, seeing him live whenever possible is simply the right thing to do. This is your chance to sit and listen to one the most prolific songwriters of our time…
While Howe does his rounds for the people this week, we’re particularly interested in urging you to pay attention to these two shows:
Saturday November 23 – The Axe & Fiddle in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Mike Coykendall opens the show and things kick off around 8:30.
Monday November 25 – Mississippi Studios in Portland, Oregon. Houndstooth opens this show and that gets started at 8:00. *This is a Pickathon & Mississippi Studios Presents show and is part of a monthly series we’re presenting this winter.
See the man that comes by way of the desert. Arriving with new songs, a small band, and likely a new hat.
All dates and venue info for the other cities can be found at Howe’s website.
