A discerning collector and music curator, Bobby D is a DJ whose impact goes beyond the club. In 2015, he founded the Albina Music Trust – a memory activism project amplifying the voices of Portland’s elder Black musician community. Through storytelling, performance, and vinyl releases, AMT’s preservation efforts have centered the BIPOC community, making multigenerational connections among musicians. In addition, he has contributed music-related articles for Wax Poetics, Willamette Week, and Portland Mercury. With many hours clocked in late night discos, his mixes range from the eccentric to the essential in soulful music made for dancing.
