Erica Berry

Erica Berry’s nonfiction debut, Wolfish: Wolf, Self, and the Stories We Tell About Fear (Flatiron/Macmillan, 2023) is a kaleidoscopic blend of memoir, journalism, science, myth, and cultural criticism, and has been recommended by publications such as Vulture, The Washington Post, Salon, TIME, Harpers Bazaar, Scientific American, and The Los Angeles Times, who wrote “What do we fear, and when, and why? This book should be required reading.” Berry’s essays appear in the New York Times Magazine, the Guardian, Outside, The Yale Review, and WIRED, among other places. She lives in her hometown of Portland, Oregon, where she teaches writing workshops at Literary Arts, the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology, and the Attic Institute for Arts and Letters.
