Protomartyr frontman Joe Casey had lost his father from a heart attack and his mother from Alzheimer’s yet he still decided to start a band with no musical background with his friends the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy.
The band has produced three post punk albums in three years. Casey’s foggy vocals blend well with the fast-paced guitar riffs and percussions. Lyrically, Protomartyr’s music dwells on difficulties in life such as death. However rather than being pessimistic, Casey centers more on coming to term with these truths.
