I’ve been a DJ for over 20 years and collecting records longer than that. I first started out on Oahu, HI doing productions with live local bands – I would play throughout the night in between the performances. Then in 2002 I started a reggae sound collective with a friend called Pressure Down Sound where we focused on foundational Jamaican music from the ’60s and ’70s while running our own DJ nights. Now residing in Portland for a little over five years, I continue to play out and have linked up with many local DJs joining on events and also throwing our own events with my partner playing Jamaican music, ska, rocksteady, reggae and also soul, funk and jazz. My partner Songbird and I have a weekly radio show each Sunday 5-7pm (PST) on Niceupradio.com where we play foundation Jamaican music and throw in other related genres like soul and jazz. Music is life.
